Beat the January blues and join us on Tuesday 13th January when Nicolas Hopton will be discussing his new book Maremma Mia. At the centre of this memoir is the chronicle of the Hopton family’s adventure as they transform an old farmhouse in the rural Maremma region of Tuscany. Throughout Maremma Mia, Hopton provides a rich historical context for the region. These reflections deepen the reader’s understanding of how history has shaped the present character of the Maremma. Nicolas Hopton studied Italian at Cambridge University as well as in Florence. He then served as a diplomat for 35 years, including at the British Embassy in Italy and as UK Ambassador to Libya, Iran, Qatar and Yemen
