Staff Recommendation: Elizabeth is Missing is narrated by Maud who escapes from her carers and daughter Helen to buy peach slices, and lots of them. She is suffering from dementia and discovers an old compact mirror from 70 years ago at the bottom of her friend’s garden. This is the beginning of the two mysteries in this story; the disappearance of Elizabeth and the mystery of what happened to her older sister Sukie, who went missing in postwar London. This book very cleverly combines crime and fiction, is very quirky with an understated sense of humour. A jolly good read!
